50 mins deep focus · rain on an umbrella for study and work
🌧️ for the next 50 minutes, you don’t have to be anywhere else.
let the world move around you. you stay here.
🎧 this is a 50-minute deep focus session for study and work, with soft rain falling on an umbrella and no music to pull your attention away.
🎯 choose one task. put your phone away. let the rain cover the rest.
🔔 when the bell comes at 20 minutes, you don’t need to stop. just notice that your attention wandered, breathe, and return to what was in front of you. then keep going.
🌿 why a bell in the middle?
research published in cognition found that brief diversions during a sustained task can help prevent attention from fading. this session uses one quiet bell as a small reset, not an interruption, just a reminder to come back.
📚 this session is especially suited to reading, writing, studying, coding, research, or any task where music and lyrics make it harder to think.
you don’t have to force yourself to focus perfectly.
just return. again and again. 🤍
if you’d like to stay with this idea a little longer, I wrote more about deep work here: deep work.
